Pilates
has really made me aware of my posture - after classes I really find

Pilates has helped me to strengthen and rehabilitate my body following
some very serious chest infections (due to cancer wrecking my immune
system) which left my body physically very weak. I find although I am
still unable to exercise some weeks, Pilates is the one thing I can
manage most of the time. Although I am tired at the end of a class my
mind is refreshed and relaxed.

tutor, corrects us if our position is faulty and encourages us if we

strength knowledge is brilliant for everyday activities provided one
remembers to use them! Disadvantage is being motivated to do some basic
exercises at home when there isn't a class.

I have been a beginner twice! This does not worry me. Pilates has
changed my life insofar as I try to hold myself correctly, use my
stomach muscles instead of my back and it gives me a feeling of well
being which, combined with other exercise and a healthy diet, keep me
trim, alert and hopefully slows down the ageing process. People say -
you look well, you look fit. I try to incorporate Pilates into my
everyday life i.e. pull in my stomach muscles while waiting for traffic
lights to change, whilst driving and definitely whilst gardening. Long
may Pilates reign in my life. The exercises help to keep me supple.

I have less back-ache than before. I like the fact that the exercises
are quite slow and sometimes focus just on one small part of the body.
It makes you concentrate. And it is just so different from the
quick-hurry-dash approach that no doubt rules a large part of our
lives. I also appreciate the fact that you often walk around the class
to "observe" people. At least you keep an eye on what we do and how we
do it.
